INTRODUCTION

Healthcare is a new frontier of manufacturing research. Biomedical manufacturing is defined as the application of manufacturing technologies to improve the safety, quality, efficiency, speed and cost of the healthcare service and biomedical science. Our lab (Biomedical Design and Manufacturing Lab) puts highly interested in biomedical design and manufacturing the application of advanced design and manufacturing technology to advance medical device, healthcare operations, and patient safety. We work closely with collaborators in the Medical School and is a founding member of the Medical Innovation Center on joint research in aging society related assistive device design and manufacturing, 3D printing / additive manufacturing in orthosis and prosthesis, clinical simulators, ultrasound and bioimpedance for non-invasive diagnosis, bio-heat transfer in clinical procedures, and advanced needle and needle devices. We also continue to conduct research in machining of advanced materials. We aim to educate a new generation of innovators with advanced technical and business skills who will be leaders in biomedical device and health technology.
